Since April, Joleen has joined Bamboo Brands as a Research Expert. In this role, she translates consumer data and research results into clear, actionable insights that brands can truly work with. With her background in sensory research and passion for food innovation, she helps uncover not only what consumers do, but especially why they do it.
Time to get to know her a bit better π
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Translating data into understandable insights. Not just showing what is happening, but also why. Turning numbers into a clear story that people can actually use. The best part is when complex data can be simplified into something that immediately makes sense. An insight that not only works on paper, but also truly resonates with the people it is meant for.
What is your personal connection to FMCG, or food in particular?
During my studies in sensory research, the relationship between senses and food was central β and that combination is exactly what makes me curious about what people taste, choose, and why. So itβs probably no surprise that I also love discovering new products and flavors myself!
Which recent FMCG innovation really excites you?
I especially enjoy innovations that make it easier for home cooks to bring flavors from around the world into their own kitchens. Think of large bowls for ramen, fermentation jars for homemade kimchi, or ready-to-use flavor boosters like gochujang and harissa. Those small tools and products make experimenting accessible and fun.
What is your favorite category in the supermarket?
Give me a supermarket and Iβll naturally end up in the world food aisle β searching for products I still need to Google to find out what they actually are.
Which food product could always wake you up?
Sauce! From spicy to creamy and everything in between. For me, sauce really is the cherry on top.
