EU Programs

OPZuid is an incentive programme supported by the European Union that aims to promote innovation, entrepreneurship and societal impact in the south of the Netherlands. By collaborating with companies, universities and other partners, OPZuid aims to contribute to innovative solutions in five societal transitions: energy, climate, raw materials, agriculture and food.


Bamboo Brands and OPZuid have partnered up to make innovation within the food sector faster, better and more sustainable. With this partnership, we want to make it possible for food startups to test their sustainable and innovative products in our network of supermarkets across Europe. KAAZ and BoB are the first projects to emerge from this partnership.

PROJECT KAAZ

This project, KAAZ (a Cheese Alternative, Artisanally and Purely Made), aims to develop and market an innovative plant-based cheese alternative using advanced technologies and traditional cheese-making methods. Through a collaboration between Bamboo Brands, Studio Fava, and the HAS green academy, the goal is to create a product that approaches the taste, texture, and nutritional value of traditional cheese, but based on sustainable and plant-based ingredients.


The KAAZ project focuses on bridging the gap between the growing demand for dairy-free and environmentally friendly alternatives on one hand, and the need for high-quality and flavorful cheese products on the other. By utilizing state-of-the-art research facilities, expertise in food technology, and innovative production methods, the partners aim to develop a product that not only meets the taste and quality requirements of consumers but also contributes to more sustainable food production.


By participating in this project, the partners contribute to the development of sustainable food innovations, promote healthier eating patterns, and reduce the environmental impact of food production. Additionally, the project offers opportunities for economic growth and employment in the region by strengthening the economic position of Southern Netherlands as a leading hub for food technology and innovation.
