Why Bamboo Brands is expanding to Spain

A next step in our mission to base innovation decisions on real consumer behaviour 

Over the past few years, Bamboo Brands has carried out several projects in Spain. Each time we noticed the same thing: it is a market where innovation moves quickly, where retail and foodservice continue to evolve, and where brands are constantly looking for ways to stand out.

But in such a dynamic market, one question becomes increasingly important:
do we truly understand how consumers there actually make their choices?

That is why we are taking the next step.

After several successful projects, we are officially launching Bamboo Brands España.


A familiar collaboration in a new context 

To lead this step, we have appointed Anouk Kopijn as Market Development Lead Growth & Innovation for Bamboo Brands España. Anouk recently moved to Girona and will work from there to further develop Bamboo Brands’ activities in Spain.

Anouk and I have known each other for more than fifteen years. What has always connected us is the same conviction: if you want to accelerate innovation, you need to understand how consumers behave at the exact moment they make a choice.

Not in a meeting room.
Not in a hypothetical test environment.
But in the context where decisions are actually made.

Why Spain is such an interesting market for innovation 

Spain is one of the most dynamic food markets in Europe. Strong FMCG players, forward-thinking retail concepts and a rapidly growing out-of-home sector create enormous opportunities for innovation.

At the same time, the context of consumer behaviour is different from many other countries. Grocery shopping is often a social experience: shoppers take their time, talk to store staff or other shoppers, and especially in hypermarkets the assortment is wide and diverse.

For brands, this means that understanding in-store behaviour becomes even more important.

Our mission remains the same 

At Bamboo Brands, we help brands base innovation decisions on actual consumer behaviour.

From packaging validation to testing new product concepts and measuring behavioural impact on the shop floor. Not based on assumptions, but on what consumers actually do when they stand in front of the shelf.

With the launch of Bamboo Brands España, we look forward to working with food manufacturers, retailers, knowledge institutions and foodservice partners who want to accelerate innovation in the Spanish market.
