What do you enjoy the most about your work?
“Being able to create things that make an impact. Alongside designing and realizing technical solutions, it’s a great motivator to know you’re improving processes.”
What’s your personal connection to FMCG, or food in particular?
“My interest in the FMCG industry really took off during my Bachelor’s Final Project, which I was able to do at Bamboo Brands. While conducting research, I discovered how much goes on behind the scenes when it comes to consumer behavior in supermarkets—something I still find super interesting.”
Which recent FMCG innovation really excites you?
“I’m a big fan of efficiency, so I love the steady improvements in self-checkout systems. As a designer, I’ve always been fascinated by the sound design behind Albert Heijn’s self-checkouts, where customers are subconsciously taught which sound matches which action. Another development I think is excellent: self-checkouts that can identify all products in a basket at once, without scanning items individually.”
What’s your favorite category in the supermarket?
“Meal kits! I always struggle to decide what to cook, so I love being able to grab a ready-to-go recipe with all the ingredients in one go.”
What food could we always wake you up for?
“Blue M&M’s—I can basically eat a whole bag.”
Anything else you'd like to share about yourself?
“I’m really excited to get started with the In-Store Mockup Validator System, and especially to see how this solution performs in the real world.”
