Sometimes you see slides that need no further explanation. This slide is a representation of the impact of food innovation at FMCG producers on the food waste problem.
The UN-FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) has revealed in a recent study that more than 35% of the food produced is uneaten, of which 13% is accounted for by producers.
From our Dutch studies that we have done at companies, we have determined the 'cost of innovation'. This showed that a major cost driver of this waste among producers is the innovation engine of the company.
Quite impressive to see that you will reduce food waste once you control these costs.
