1: Challenge

BUILD SHELF PLAN ACCORDING TO CLIENT CATEGORY VISION AND MEASURE SHELF PERFORMANCE.

• Our client wanted to gain insight into the potential of a shelf proposal from the category vision and wanted to substantiate this with financials.

• Validate (or possibly reject) hypotheses made with regard to shelf performance.

2: Approach

Multidisciplinary kick-off session with project team to align on objectives and formalize hypotheses

  • Quantitative in-store assessment during 7 weeks
  • Fieldwork in 10 different stores (1 retailer), where the shelves have been converted and tracked.
  • 60* data points collected (1 data point= weekly base rotation of 1 store)
  • Outliers in data were defined and corrected

* Note: To get solid business assumptions the minimum requirement is at least 60 datapoints. The amount of datapoints can vary per project and depends on the depth of the study.

3: Impact

RESULTS HAVE MADE IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTION IN CONVERSATION WITH RETAILER TO IMPLEMENT PROPOSED SHELF.

  • Validation of hypothesis confirmed
  • The results delivered significant category growth and category penetration increased.
  • The results helped our client in the further implementation, upscaling and prioritization within category management.
